Well today I got my first repair order with a complaint on the first line. " Noise from rear when going over bumps". I took the vehicle for a test drive to verify the complaint. Once on the test drive I heard the noise immediately it sounded like a metal knocking noise very obvious that it was coming from the rear. After I raised the vehicle I went to check for rear shocks to be blown or after market brake pads which always make noise. No blown shocks, OEM pads, and rotors, no leaks and nothing looked damage. So I grabbed my dead blow hammer and start to hit the bottom of the tires and listen for the noise when I hear a clack noise coming from the bottom of the spring area where it gets held into place. I look into the rear lower control arm where I found a piece of the spring that seems to have rusted off and broke inside the lower control arm. Replaced spring and problem solved. Here's a helpful tip to diagnosing noise's get the car in the air and try to recreate the noise while trying to not WASTE time. Hope the tips help you keep up with my blog. BE safe and get it fixed.
